WALKING WITH JACK
By Melissa Meyers Blue laces stretched taut, and circled back into a typical bow, the glass door where the sunshine splashes in, shows the smudges from his wet nose, we step out onto the gritty pavement, my feet strapped, the other one of us leashed, I search for the something found on the laced wings of a prehistoric dragon fly, he’s happy to find a discarded hotdog bun, on the side of the road. Jack follows his nose, I follow my soul, we are the most inseparable of friends.
